Description
The United States Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) exists to ensure all workplaces understand and adhere to adequate safety standards. An extremely useful forklift attachment is the telescoping boom. As useful as a boom attachment is, it can have an impact on the stability of a lift truck by altering its center of balance and reducing its lifting capacity. Classified as “basic parts“, OSHA acknowledges that forklift attachments “increase the versatility of the truck”, but goes on to warn that they “present important safety considerations,” including:
- Forklift stability
- Visibility
- Capacity
- Extendable Boom/Stinger Boom
- Industrial Jibs/Mounted Lifting Hook
- Mounted Work Platform
